Ehh.. oil is pumped from just below the surface. The Core is made of Molten Lava, which isn't too useful a fuel source yet ;)



Now, as for the caverns where we find oil, which is what I think that you're thinking of, those just empty gradually over time. Oil deposits aren't usually so large that draining the oil causes destability. It's the same thing as underground aquifers, which are a lot easier to find information on IMO.

Well the oil that comes from the crust of the earth empties very slowly comparable to poking a pin hole in a 5000 gallon gas tank. And when it does run dry it just becmes a whole in the crust like swiss cheese. there have been speculations that sink holes have happend from them but there is now scientific eidence that it is a danger. Usually the holes are very large but so far under the earths crust it is like an arch and very structurally sound. Come to think of it I might want to go build me a city in one of those. It might need a little tidying up with all the dirt and oil and all but think febreeze and elbow grease should take care of that. lol :)
